We regret to inform you that we are canceling the Grand Opening Kick Off Party for this weekend. Yesterday, a student who’d been in the Studio Tuesday notified us of a positive Covid19 test result. While it’s only the second time we’ve had a positive result reported at the studio since March (which is pretty amazing under the circumstances), this possible exposure, the Governor’s new mask mandate, and the number of people who’d reserved a spot for Saturday’s party led us to question the timing of our event.
There were over 100 people scheduled to come Saturday, including our amazing instructors, and we knew of others who were planning on attend. We are completely amazed and humbled by not only the number of people coming but by the mixture of new and familiar names on the list, and the dance styles across which they all span! The vision for the Studio has always been to bring all styles of dance together under one roof and this event would have brought that vision to life!
The possible Covid19 exposure was handled promptly and in accordance with our Covid19 procedures, but we feel that hosting so many people in a ballroom of Strut’s size in the middle of a new mask mandate sends the wrong message. We believe that our standard of caring first and foremost for the safety of our Studio community has kept you all coming weekly to classes, socials, and lessons and we don’t want to jeopardize that trust. This party was planned to celebrate something we are lucky to be, which is OPEN - thanks to all of you!!
We appreciate your willingness to join us this weekend and want to thank everyone for the part many of you have already played in the success of the studio! We will just have to find a different way to highlight the awesome abilities of our instructors and students. Hopefully we’ll get the chance to host a celebratory event at a later date! Sorry to disappoint you this weekend, but THANK YOU for your understanding and continued support!!
Just to be clear, in preparation for the party, an outside company had already cleaned the Studio Wednesday morning. Classes will be held as scheduled and the studio is open for private lessons as usual. Based on the governor's update, we implemented the mask mandate as of yesterday so please bring one along when you come dance with us. Stay tuned for the September Calendar as we still plan to make it STRUTacular!!
